CENTRA Technology Senior Technical Advisor Walter Rutledge, Ph.D., compares hypersonic boost-glide to a baseball if it were able to change direction in mid-air.

"The baseball can go a long way and your arm is the booster," Rutledge said. "Unlike a football or a baseball, the hypersonic boost-glide system has the ability to change direction as it flies. It's a very useful military vehicle and it can avoid many of the traditional ballistic flight challenges and provide for a more effective weapons system."

U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner, D-Va., and Virginia State Del. Hala Ayala hosted a cybersecurity round table for industry leaders at the headquarters of PAE company Delta Bridge in Alexandria, Virginia, on July 16. Warner discussed recommendations he’s making as chairman of the Senate select committee on intelligence during the hour-long session.

“I’ve seen how cyber, from the back view, how unprepared we are and how we never had any real cyber doctrine,” Warner said.

Integrity, professionalism and trust of both colleagues and clients have earned Frances Choi recognition as the PAE Values Champion for "Have Integrity." As director of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund program, Choi's work has impacted the 9/11 community since the terrorist attacks 20 years ago.

Choi says her father has always been her leadership inspiration because of the way he treated people with respect. She said he taught her the value of integrity, empathy, honor and service to all. She also credits her accomplishments to the mutual respect she and her coworkers have for each other and the contributions of everyone who helped guide her throughout her 33 years in the business.

NASA’s 2020 Mars Rover “Perseverance” is now on Mars, which was a feat of science and engineering that made headlines across the globe. For Continuous Improvement Analyst Michael J. Newbeck, it means adjusting his award-winning maintenance schedule at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Keeping up Perseverance’s home on Earth is one example of how PAE’s team supporting Base Operations and Spaceport Services under Newbeck prioritized work in different facilities. The routine, 13-week maintenance cycle strategy they developed and implemented is part of a project that won PAE’s Continuous Improvement Kaizen Competition in the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control – or DMAIC – category.

Weak connections from home routers and fuzzy video are now cornerstones of the new work-from-home environment that are now so familiar. However, most people's connectivity isn't dependent on the perfect alignment of a satellite. On the other hand, program member and winter over taker Reginald Percival had to ask to change the daily time for the most recent PAE Green Belt class because the satellite providing his internet access wasn't directly overhead where he works in Antarctica for the WebEx feed to show clearly.

"I thought of all the things that I've encountered from technical difficulties in a decade or more of training these types of courses, I've never had that," Director of Continuous Improvement John Bennett said.

June 2021

When Latoya Jones decided she needed a change in 2017, she decided just moving to another city or state wasn't enough. Instead, she accepted a position to join her husband in South Korea – 7,000 miles away from her home in Washington, D.C.

Jones provides support for the National Security Solutions and Mission Support Group SATOC contract, which provides construction security monitoring services to the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
